  • MCom (Commerce & Marketing)

Being a very driven young man I aimed high in both the academic and sporting sides to my life, this drive prompted me to head to Dunedin and join other similar individuals at Otago University. As a very fresh faced 17 year old and being free from certain parental rules, socialising became a bigger part of my life, even to the point where I failed my first economics paper! Yet after a rather nervous breaking of this news to my Mum I quickly redirected my life and priorities which led to me being accepted into double honours for both Marketing and Management the very next year (Only 18 students get selected from 347).

  • I started my first business at 19 “The Dunedin Dining Club”

While still completing my degree myself and a friend decided to take a plunge into owning our own business, it was called the “Dunedin Dining Club” and roughly resembled “The Entertainment Book”. This new business venture started off really well until I proceeded to teach myself a few lessons in how not too run a business, I employed 6 of my mates (had to let 5 go) and didn’t manage our budgets correctly which led to the business almost going down like the Titanic 3 years later! This however only sparked a new found desire for knowledge in business and have been seeking improvement in all areas of my life ever since.

I then proceeded back to the university life to finish my masters in marketing and start my PhD. In the aim to improve my public speaking skills I took a lecturing opportunity available at Otago University where I taught marketing for 5 years. All of this was of course juggled with my love for playing rugby league, boxing and even learning hand to hand military combat at the Geoff Todd’s School of Self Defense.

  • Previously the Marketing Director for Honda & Country Manager for Pirelli Tyres

Having grown tired of being a broke academic and freezing in the depths of Dunedin I quickly set sights for the big smoke of Auckland and became the Marketing Director for Honda Motorcycles New Zealand the the Country Manager for Pirelli Tyres thereafter. With all the experience and success I got from working with these companies I launched both www.lifemaideasy.co.nz and now www.buildersprofitablemarketing.co.nz the right way.

  • I love going fast and traveling

I can be found trying to bring on an early heart attack by racing around the track in my Ducati 1098 or Porsche 996 with the majority of my time being spent with my loving and beautiful wife and two beautiufl little boys, 3 year old Zak and 10 month old Ashton. If I manage to get time among the busy week I like to hit the gym and keep fit (to a certain degree!) or enjoy the odd game of golf and tennis.

Overseas travel is also a passion and I value getting away and exploring what the world has to offer, especially as I find a lot of inspiration for new business ideas from visiting different parts of the globe. I try to structure my year where I can get away at least twice for these excursions it helps refresh me as well as relax me.

  • I‘ve owned 8 companies. Now www.lifemaideasy.co.nz, NZ’s largest growing cleaning company, & BPM

Entrepreneurship and growing businesses has been a feature of my business career from day one. At 22 I started my first business with 12 staff, and by 31 I was running Pirelli Tyres New Zealand. I even managed to be responsible for growing Pirelli NZ into one of the top performing tyre brands in New Zealand. The next step was launching Life Maid Easy Cleaning, NZ’s fastest growing cleaning company, based in Newmarket Auckland. I also have 12 Years as a business coach with Action Coach being ranked at times number 1 in New Zealand and number 2 in the world! (Out of 1287 coaches in 55 Countries). Builders Profitable Marketing was the next step and I have been enjoying helping our clients grow their businesses and seeing all the positive results they have achieved!

  • I love learning, spending over $287,000 on personally educating myself in the last 25 years

I’ve Invested heavily into Personal Education

I’ve educated myself from the world’s greatest business minds. I’ve attended workshops, seminars and conferences throughout the world to learn the best strategies for marketing, pricing and sales. Some of the business gurus who I’ve been lucky enough to have trained under include:

Robert Kiyosaki, Michael Gerber, Brad Sugars, Dan Kennedy, George Ross, Jeffrey Gitomer, Yanik Silver, Ryan Deiss, plus much more…

  • Growing Businesses is my Thing!

Growing businesses and developing teams is my forte…

It’s simple, as long as you have a passion and a willingness to try new things for your business, and are committed to succeeding, then the fit will be a good one!

He then started again, and now has only 12 guys working for him. He now makes more money, and has more time off then he ever had with 53 guys.

  • Massively into training his team

Russell is a strong believer in training your team.
People ask him ‘Russell what happens if I train them, then they leave?’
‘Well, what happens if you don’t train them, and they stay?’.

  • Building & Hands-on Background

As a young delinquent I really honed in and decided I wanted to be the best in everything I do, be it torturing teachers or learning and excelling in my specified field.

You’re probably thinking a girl within the building industry? Huh?! But my partner is a builder, my brother is a builder and my Dad is a sparky (who has built a few houses) so I know more than you might think! As a young girl I always enjoyed helping Dad out with building tasks around the house, whether it be leveling concrete or building a fence as I enjoyed helping him and seeing them completed at the end.

  • Specialised in Online Marketing & Strategy

Core Skills: Facebook Strategy/Advertising, Word Press, Linkedin Strategy/Advertising, Email Marketing, Copy writing (Online/Offline), Video Editing, CRM Software, Photoshop and Design, teaching assistants/VA’s strategies they can work on to grow your business.

  • Graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing & Entrepreneurial Management)

Having been brought up in the early years of modern technology within 3 months of graduating with a business degree in marketing and entrepreneurial management, I had put together 2 websites as well as mastered Facebook and LinkedIn advertising. This has only grown in leaps and bounds.

  • I Love Keeping Fit, Watching Sports & Travelling

I enjoy the gym and keeping fit overall, I think it helps both mentally and physically with the added bonus of being in decent shape! Netball’s another part of me outside the office walls and I enjoy dominating the other girls on the court! Other than these I watch rugby league when indulging in travelling, shoes, movies and clothing aren’t options.

Marketing & Projects Co-ordinator

  • Doing What He Loves

A water baby from a young age, Owen has achieved great things at the beach and in the pool. Surf Lifesaving was his sport of choice until turning his hand to Water Polo while at school. A New Zealand representative throughout the age groups, Owen made his Men’s debut in 2014 while away at the Commonwealth Cup. He now plays national league for North Harbour.

Owen also has a strong motivation to help the younger generation, and still coaches, mentors and organises part of the Westlake Boys Water Polo program.

Socially Owen loves kicking a ball around and playing basketball with his mates. There often isn’t anything social about it though. Owen is very competitive and doesn’t like the loosing feeling even during a fun game.

  • University

Graduating with a conjoint degree in Business and Communications, Owen has majors in Marketing and Public Relations making him a bit of a guru.
He has spent time representing AUT university at marketing project days and competitions.
Owen was nominated for AUT Sportsperson of the year in 2014 as he juggled community involvement, academic results and sporting achievement.

  • Who is He?

Owen loves sport and doing cool things (whatever they are?).
In the weekends you’ll find him out exploring the Waitakere ranges or further afield in Managwhai.

Owen has done some travel with his Water Polo and recommends exploring cities by bike. His most exciting experience was riding into time square in New York City.
Whatever you do, just keep peddling. Do. Not. Stop.”

  • Favorite Stuff

Owen loves to “jump amongst it” and try new things at work and in his spare time.

His plan is to learn as much as he can before starting his own business or travelling the world on a one way ticket.

Owen has a favorite actor in Will Ferrell, a favorite fruit in apples and a favorite fast food in Burger King. Everything else however is up for argument and  he welcomes a good bit of banter if you want to introduce him to your favorite beer or surf spot.

  • GRADUATED WITH A BACHELOR OF BUSINESS (MARKETING & International business)

Having recently completed University and being chucked straight into a full time roll has at times been challenging and I will be the first one to admit I have dropped the ball a few times. However, my commitment to working hard and gaining the necessary knowledge and skills has seen me progress in this company.

To date I have completed over 12 websites for our clients which have generated over 150 leads and more than 2 million in signed contracts.

My goal is to reach the marketing level my manager Lucy is at. My passion for marketing and Lucy’s constant hands-on guidance will only help me get to the next level quicker.

  • I LOVE PLAYING BASKETBALL, TRAVELLING & EXPERIENCING THINGS OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE

When i’m not working I love playing basketball and keeping fit and healthy.

Travelling is another big part of my life. I love to travel with my girlfriend at least once a year.

I love challenging myself by stepping outside of my comfort zone, as I feel that by doing so it only helps make me stronger. Recently I parachuted out of a plane, and having absolute fear of heights, conquering that fear has been one of the biggest highlights for me so far this year.

  • My plan for world domination

I have my eyes set for the stars. In 3 years time I want to own my own company and be self-employed.

But for now, I’m relishing the opportunity to learn as much as I can from Marti and the team. I’ll continue to further my skills and knowledge as much as I can, learning from the world class entrepreneurs and marketing gurus. So, when i’m ready i’ll be a dominating force in my own business
